This election is about people in Crouch End and their hopes for the area. Over the last year Jason Arthur, Natan Doron and Lourdes Keever have been listening closely to residents to understand the issues they care about. Jason, Natan and Lourdes are incredibly passionate about Crouch End and would be honoured to serve as local councillors.

Jason, Natan and Lourdes been out in every season listening to residents – and they will continue to do so as Crouch End councillors. They believe that only by working together with residents can they continue to make Crouch End one of the best places to live in North London.

By electing Jason, Natan and Lourdes Crouch End residents will have three councillors who will work tirelessly to ensure that their views are at the heart of the Council’s decisions. They pledge to work with residents to deliver a positive vision for Crouch End that strengthens the community.

Our pledges

1. Drive faster progress on the development of Hornsey Town Hall, ensuring that residents are consulted on how it can best serve our community
2. Work with the Council and Fusion to deliver improvements to Park Road Leisure Centre and do everything we can to keep the diving board in Crouch End
3. Actively support fantastic local community groups and events such as Crouch End Open Studios and the Crouch End Festival
4. Deliver improvements to roads and pavements across the ward to ensure that pedestrians and cyclists can travel safely
5. Work with Homes for Haringey to ensure that repairs to homes happen faster

The people of Crouch End deserve a strong voice at the decision-making table on Haringey Council.

Improving roads & pavements in Crouch End

Jason, Natan and Lourdes have been listening closely to residents to understand the issues that people in Crouch End care about. As a team Labour wants to work with people in Crouch End to build an even stronger community.

One of the things that has come up on the doorstep is residents wanting more money invested in roads and pavements. We know that improving the quality of our streets through resurfacing, pavement and safety improvements and pothole repairs improves the quality of life for all residents– particularly children, disabled and older people.

Haringey Labour will spend £25 million improving roads & pavements in the borough

We also know from talking to residents in Crouch End how important cycling is. That’s why we’re proud to support the Space for Cycling campaign. We’re also proud that the Haringey Labour manifesto commits to using part of the £25 million we’ve pledged to improve roads in the borough to invest in cycle and pedestrian routes to make Haringey more accessible and safer for those who travel by foot or bike. Our aim is to be the safest borough for cyclists and pedestrians.

Freezing council tax in Crouch End

Jason, Natan and Lourdes have been out talking to residents for over a year now. One thing that has come up is that family budgets are being squeezed. The monthly pay packet isn’t going as far as it once did. That’s why as one of our key manifesto pledges in Crouch End and Haringey, Labour is freezing council tax for another four years.

Labour’s plans to address the housing crisis in Crouch End

Ed Miliband has pledged that a Labour government will take action to make the private rented sector more affordable and secure. We know this matters to the people of Crouch End. You need only walk down Park Road or Ferme Park Road and see the endless to let signs as more homes become unaffordable for people living in Crouch End.

In 2001 31% of people living in Crouch End were living in home rented from private landlords. By 2011 this figure had gone up to 37.3%. The private rented sector in London has become more and more expensive during a period in which real wages are stagnating. This is just one part of what Ed Miliband calls the cost of living crisis.

Labour’s plans include banning letting agents from charging tenants any fees, bringing in three year tenancies as the standard in the private rented sector and guaranteeing predictable rents to limit excessive rises to stop tenants being ripped off.

One of the reasons that renting is becoming increasingly unaffordable is because not enough homes are built in England. That’s why Haringey Labour’s manifesto is pledging to building 1,000 new affordable homes including 250 council homes. But that’s not all. Haringey Labour’s positive vision for the borough includes improving existing council homes despite huge Lib Dem and Conservative central government cuts to the council budget. Haringey Labour also intends to do more to support tenants who suffer under rogue landlords by setting up a landlords’ register. Finally Haringey Labour will make sure that new housing schemes provide jobs and apprenticeships for local people.
